You, as the buyer, can have the advantage of knowing more about the product than the seller. This gives you an incredibly powerful bargaining tool. I’ve seen people get a new roof at the same purchase price the house was listed for, or get up to $10,000 knocked off the original selling price! You can also learn about potential safety and fire hazards that most people never even know they are living with. For example, not knowing that your child doesn’t have the proper egress window in his/her bedroom could be extremely dangerous. These windows need to be a certain size so that, in the event of a fire, the rescue team will be able to get to your child out of the house safely.
